Portugal. Where the earth ends and the sea begins, as the famous Portuguese poet Luis Vaz de Caműes said in the 16th century.
It is not surprisingly that the age of the great discoveries began in Portugal. The country is situated perfectly on the crossroads of the Atlantic and Mediterranean, and its inhabitants are born sailors. Whether going East, West, North or South, you will pass Portugal with its numerous well equipped marinas, excellent services and good connections to the rest of the world.
Unlike some other Southern European countries, Portugal is actively promoting marine business. The wide expanse of the estuary of the Tagus River, which runs through Lisbon, is a frequent stage for international yacht races like the Volvo Ocean Race and the America’s Cup World Series.
Jos Gielen, Sea Independent Yacht Broker, immediately fell in love with Portugal when sailing along its Atlantic coast in 2005, and decided to drop his anchor there permanently.
The country is stunningly beautiful and its people are very friendly. Weather is perfect all year around, never too hot, never too cold. Portugal is a temptation that is hard to resist.
Sea Independent’s branch in Portugal, which is run by Jos Gielen, is there to assist you and offer advice.
